JOHN V. MILLER is a pianist, composer, arranger, vocal coach and piano instructor. He has been studying and playing the piano for 80 years. He was the pianist and keyboard player for the Stanley Turrentine band for 18 years and performed on four recordings during that time. After leaving the band he enrolled in graduate school and earned a Masters Degree in the Art of Teaching from Lehman College in New York. He taught in the Nassau County, Suffolk County, New York City, and Arsdale Public School System while taking graduate courses in Jazz Studies at Queens College in New York City. After relocating to Georgia, he enrolled in the Master of Jazz Program at Georgia State University. John is a member of the First Congregational Church of Atlanta. He sings bass with the Chancel Choir, plays Handbells in the Handbell Ensemble, is the accompanist and Bass singer for the Atlanta Jazz Chorus and was pianist and team arranger for the 3rd Sunday Band which performs every 3rd Sunday for the 11:00 am service.
